  • What is the climate like? Are there air conditioners in the rooms?

Numazu City has a mild climate throughout the year, with small temperature differences between summer and winter, making it relatively comfortable. Snow accumulation is rare in winter.

INN THE PARK is located in the hills of Mount Ashitaka, but due to its low elevation, the temperature is similar to that of the flatlands (tends to be about 1°C lower).

In summer, while it feels cool in the shade, there are many days with extremely hot temperatures. If you plan outdoor activities in the park during the day, please take precautions against heat stroke by bringing drinks, hats, and cooling items (August average temperature: mean 26.8°C, high 30.5°C, low 23.1°C).

From autumn to spring, it can get cold in the mornings and evenings. In winter, we provide blankets and electric blankets, but please bring warm clothing or winter pajamas (January average temperature: mean 5.9°C, high 11.1°C, low 0.7°C).

For those concerned about staying during peak summer or winter, rooms with air conditioning offer comfortable accommodation (13 out of our 18 rooms have air conditioning).

Rooms without air conditioning, such as the Sphere Tent Mini and Glamping Tent, are equipped with cooling fans in summer, electric blankets in spring and autumn, and heaters (Sphere Tent Mini only) in winter. We have rarely received complaints about inability to sleep due to temperature in rooms without air conditioning. However, we do not actively recommend these rooms to guests concerned about daytime heat in summer or morning and evening cold in winter.

  • Are there bathrooms and toilets in the rooms? What are they like?

There are no bathing facilities in the guest rooms. Toilets are available in the cottages but not in the tents. There are bathhouses and sanitary buildings. For more detailed information, please check this page.

  • What amenities are provided?

Please check this page for details.

  • Can I stay with my pet?

There are dog-friendly rooms. Up to two large dogs are allowed per unit.
For more details, please check this page.
Note: We do not accommodate pets other than dogs.

  • Is smoking allowed?

Smoking is prohibited inside the facility, including guest rooms. There are smoking areas at three locations: near the front desk and next to the bathing facility.

  • Is it possible to tour the facilities?

To ensure the comfort of our guests, we generally do not allow tours or entry into guest rooms and areas exclusively reserved for staying guests.
However, you are free to enter and explore the park area. The view of the sphere tents can be seen from the park pathways.
If you wish to tour the facilities for business or group use purposes, please contact us via email or phone.
For inspections by government-related agencies, we offer guided tours with a lecture for a fee. Please contact us via email or phone.

  • Are there insects?

INN THE PARK, is surrounded by mountains and forests, and is home to a diverse array of insects and animals. During summer vacation, stag and rhinoceros beetles can be found almost daily, allowing many children to enjoy insect collecting.

However, there are also potentially dangerous insects, such as bees and horseflies. Insect repellent and bug-catching nets are provided in the rooms, but if you have difficulty dealing with any insects yourself, please call us, and our staff will come to assist you.

*For those who dislike insects, we recommend staying during the winter season. Winter, with its crisp air and the comforting warmth of bonfires, is actually a very comfortable season to stay. Each room is equipped with air conditioning and heating appliances, so you don’t need to worry about the cold.

  • Is camping allowed?

Camping is not permitted at INN THE PARK.
You are free to have picnics in the park using pop-up tents, but overnight camping is not allowed.
In addition, driving pegs into the ground and the use of open flames or fire-based equipment are prohibited in the park.

  • Can I bring large suitcases or camping wagons?

The main building and tent area of INN THE PARK are located on the slopes of Mount Ashitaka.

While the hilly terrain offers a range of beautiful, scenic views, the numerous stairs and uneven surfaces make carrying luggage very difficult. In addition, the tent area is not paved; it is covered with soft wood chips. It is therefore almost impossible to take large wheeled suitcases, camping wagons, and strollers to the tent area. Instead, we strongly recommend that you bring backpacks or tote bags.

*Large luggage can be stored at the front desk.
*Although the path to the lodges is less steep than that of the tent area, some buildings still have stairs or steep inclines. Maneuvering large items of luggage, either wheeled or not, can be very difficult.

  • What is the difference between the French Full Course Dinner and the French Short Course Dinner?

The main difference between the French Full Course Dinner and the French Short Course Dinner is the inclusion of a fish dish and petit fours (small confectioneries).
Some guests, particularly men, may find the Short Course Dinner insufficient in volume. On the other hand, some guests, often women, may find the Full Course too much to finish (there is significant individual variation, so some men may find the Short Course sufficient, while some women may find the Full Course just right).
It is possible to adjust the portion sizes of each dish in the Full Course to be smaller if desired.

  • What is the difference between the Outdoor Dinner and the French Full (Short) Course Dinner?

The Outdoor Dinner is served in the outdoor dining area, while the French Full (Short) Course Dinner is served in the indoor salon. The outdoor dining area is covered, so you can enjoy your meal outdoors with peace of mind unless there is extreme weather.

The appeal of the Outdoor Dinner is that you can enjoy the natural air and the essence of outdoor dining. Although there are some steps that guests will have to complete themselves, (e.g., making the salads or grilling the meat), the basic idea is to enjoy the food prepared by our staff. (the Outdoor Dinner is closer to a course meal format rather than a typical BBQ). The appeal of the French Course Dinner is that you can fully appreciate Chef Tatsukawa’s culinary expertise in a relaxed indoor setting.

Many guests who have tried both dinners during their stay have commented that both are delicious and it’s difficult to choose between them. We recommend selecting based on your preference for either enjoying the outdoor atmosphere or having a calm indoor dining experience.

For more details about the meals, please check this page.
